Professor Maya Topf elected as New Chair of CCP-EM 

Following an election this spring, CCP-EM is pleased to announce that their new chair is Professor Maya Topf. One of our communities hosted by STFC Scientific Computing, the Collaborative Computational Project for Electron cryo-Microscopy (cryoEM) provides support in computational areas for users and developers in biological cryoEM. Their work is supported by the Medical Research Council. 

Professor Topf is jointly appointed by the Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV) and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). She leads the department of Integrative Virology at the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB) in Hamburg. Before assuming her current position, she served as a Professor of Structural and Computational Biology at the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology (Birkbeck/UCL), University of London. She has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Oxford and her postdoctoral research was conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, and the Australian National University. 

Professor Topf succeeds Professor Neil Ranson, University of Leeds, who was Deputy Chair from 2016-2021 and Chair from 2021.
