The 2024 CoSeC Annual Conference was held on Wednesday 4 December at Manchester Central Convention Complex as part of the wider Computing Insight UK conference organised by STFC’s Scientific Computing Department.
The conference, now in its fourth year, promoted the work of a number of CoSeC communities who presented to a record audience. The day began with an overview of CoSeC activities by the CoSeC Director, Stephen Longshaw. Collaborators presented on subjects ranging from CAT-WSI: a catalogue of research outputs for wave structure interaction, to Modelling Multicomponent Alloys Across Length Scales, and Data Encoding for Quantum Pangenomics. We also heard an update on Isambard-AI and Isambard 3 from Richard Gilham (University of Bristol).
CoSeC Programme Manager, Damian Jones, introduced the 2024 cohort of CoSeC Fellows who gave a series of lightning talks outlining their research interests and then took the opportunity to network with others from the CoSeC community.
