The 2025 CoSeC Annual Conference will be held on Wednesday 3rd December at Manchester Central Convention Complex as part of the wider Computing Insight UK conference organised by STFC’s Scientific Computing Department.
The conference, now in its fifth year, will promote the research and achievements of the CoSeC communities for the past year. The day will begin with an introduction by our CoSeC Director, Stephen Longshaw. Collaborators will present on a range of subjects and our 2025 CoSeC Fellows will be announced.
This day reflects the achievements of the past year and the body of research that addresses the increasingly complex scientific computing challenges that we face today.
More information, such as an agenda, will follow here shortly.

*** CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS NOW OPEN ***
The Computational Science Centre for Research Communities (CoSeC) invites submissions for its next annual conference, to be held at the Manchester Central Convention Complex on Wednesday the 3rd of December 2025 in conjunction with the Computing Insight UK event.
This is an opportunity for all those involved in research topics and activities related, but not exclusive, to the UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure landscape activities. We welcome all, including Collaborative Computational Projects and High-End Consortia, to present cross-cutting aspects of their work to like-minded researchers as well as leading members of the computing industry.
We invite abstract submissions for talks and posters, around, but not exclusively to the following topics:
- Modelling, Simulation and Reconstruction: All aspects of computational science related to modelling, simulation and reconstruction. This includes the sub-topics of Applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning across the projects within the context of computational science.
- Scientific Reproducibility: Work relating to enabling reproducibility across computational science, from workflows through to ensuring data is produced and stored in accordance with the principles of FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reproducible).
- Data Stewardship and all its forms, including data curation, the cataloguing and description of software assets within the computational fields.
- Accelerated Computing within all its aspects, including GPU and Quantum Computing, from applied supercomputing (e.g., developments toward exascale and work related to the use of national infrastructure) through to topics around accessibility, and usability of computational science methods or software on large scale computing platforms.
It is important that presented work be of interest to those outside of its immediate scientific or non-scientific community, with the most relevant work being that which has potential applications across fields, with clear applications beyond the fundamental.
Accepted speakers and posters will present their work in Manchester with no associated registration fees and gain free access to the full CIUK event on the 4th and 5th of December. Upon acceptance an optional extended version of the abstract will be published as part of the main CIUK conference proceedings. To submit an abstract, please visit https://cvent.me/A49GeB. Applicants will also need to register for the CoSeC CIUK event separately.
KEY DATES:
- 31 October 2025 – Deadline for abstract submission for presentations via https://cvent.me/A49GeB
- 7 November 2025 – Notification of acceptance for oral presentations (submissions not selected for oral presentations may be invited to present a poster).
