CoSeC announces results of 2024 Bridging Call

The Computational Science Centre for Research Communities (CoSeC) is excited to announce the results of its 2024 Bridging Funding Call

Strategy and innovation in science

This invited call for Collaborative Computational Project (CCP) based communities funded through the EPSRC, BBSRC and MRC UKRI Research Councils was designed to allow them to bridge from their existing council-specific position to one aligned with a wider UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure vision.

The thirteen communities were invited to submit a proposal to create a new set of work plans building on their existing funded plans, with a view to enabling long-term scoping and road mapping.

Following an evaluation run by STFC’s Programmes Directorate using an independent external panel of experts, a total of £3.3m (fEC) was awarded to enable ten projects, each running for 24 months from November 2024.

CoSeC Director, Dr Stephen Longshaw says:

“This opportunity underpins a major element of the current 3-year CoSeC strategy (24/25 – 26/27). The technical outputs of CoSeC are intrinsically linked to those of the communities where we are directly integrated and so the resultant workplans that come from this process form a major part of our own technical goals and objectives over the coming years.

Each of the funded projects successfully capture the goals and aims that were set out in the call, providing a level of stability for each respective community while capturing the higher-level strategic aims set by the UKRI DRI programme.

I am confident that these workplans will result in key advancements in terms of the UK’s research software capability and look forward to seeing the combined impact that they will undoubtedly bring.”
