The 2026 CoSeC Annual Conference will be held on Wednesday 2nd December at Manchester Central Convention Complex as part of the wider Computing Insight UK conference organised by STFC’s Scientific Computing Department.
Following a successful series of CoSeC Conferences, including the introduction of a stand-alone, co-located Day Zero event over the past two years, we are building on this for the 2026 CoSeC Conference.
Last year was a great opportunity to showcase research across the communities, strengthen networking and also introduce a new cohort of CoSeC Fellows.
The conference, now in its sixth year, will promote the research and achievements of the CoSeC communities for the past year. The day will begin with an introduction by our CoSeC Director, Stephen Longshaw. Collaborators present on a range of subjects and our 2026 CoSeC Fellows will be introduced (applications to open later this summer).
This conference reflects the achievements of the past year and the body of research that addresses the increasingly complex scientific computing challenges that we face today.

Presentations Abstract Deadline Friday 30th October 2026
The Computational Science Centre for Research Communities (CoSeC) invites submissions for its next annual conference, to be held at the Manchester Central Convention Complex on Wednesday the 2nd of December 2026in conjunction with the Computing Insight UK event.
This is an opportunity for all those involved in research topics and activities related, but not exclusively to the UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure landscape activities. We welcome all, including Collaborative Computational Projectsand High-End Consortia, to present cross-cutting aspects of their work to like-minded researchers as well as leading members of the computing industry.
We invite abstract submissions, for talks and posters, around, but not exclusively on the following topics:
• Modelling, Simulation and Reconstruction: All aspects of computational science related to supporting community challenges and increasing impact. This includes the sub-topics of Applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning across the projects within the context of computational science.
• Scientific Reproducibility: Work relating to enabling reproducibility across computational science, fromworkflows through to ensuring data is produced and stored in accordance with the principles of FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reproducible).
• Data Stewardship and all its forms, including data curation, the cataloging and description of software assets within the computational fields.
• Accelerated Computing within all its aspects, including GPU and Quantum Computing, from appliedsupercomputing through to topics around accessibility, and usability of computational science methods or software on large scale computing platforms.
• Delivering technical training and network promotion, propagating a unified community ethos as well as best practice in network organisation and structure.
It is important that presented work be of interest to those outside of its immediate scientific or non-scientific community, with the most relevant work being that which has potential applications across fields, with clear applications beyond the fundamental.
Accepted speakers and posters will present their work in Manchester, with no associated registration fees, and gain free access to the full CIUK event on the 3rd and 4th of December. Upon acceptance, an optional extended version of the abstract will be published as part of the main CIUK conference proceedings.
