Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Imperial College London where I had been invited to represent CoSeC at the Imperial Research Computing Showcase Day 2026.

The day is an event to celebrate the work of researchers across Imperial that use Research Computing Services as part of their research activities. This year, they also launched their new platforms (HX2 – High Throughput Computing and HX3 – HEX-AI). The agenda included some really interesting presentations from Imperial College staff and guests who highlighted some of their recent work, and also talked about future projects due to start.
Highlights for me were a presentation from Ben Yarnall (UKRI) who spoke about recent developments in UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure, and a presentation from Diego Alonso Alvarez (Imperial College London) about the “Imperial Research Software Directory” which showed very strong similarities to the work currently being undertaken within CoSeC on the “CoSeC Catalogue”.

Overall the day was a great success. I really enjoyed the opportunity to talk to the various researchers about the work of CoSeC and it was great to catch up with some old colleagues. This was a great networking opportunity and hopefully some of the attendees went away with a improved knowledge of CoSeC and our activities.
